Under Melissa Haag and M.J. Haag (and occasionally with my best friend as Melissa Nicole). These stories span worlds, tropes, and a little danger with every happily ever after.

How I got here

I didn’t set out to become an author—I just ran out of books to read. Bored, broke, and out of books—with a serious reading addiction—I started writing my own stories.

Back in 2007, after my youngest was born, I realized my day job was basically covering the cost of daycare. So I cut back to working ten hours a week from home and suddenly had a lot more time on my hands. Not money, though.

My first few attempts to write didn’t make it very far. Finally, I forced myself to finish one just to prove I could. Some time after that, I had a vivid dream about a crowded dance floor in a rural bar. I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so I started writing. What I thought was a standalone turned into something much bigger. Six women. A shifting world. A story that refused to stay small—and became Judgement of the Six.

I’ve been writing ever since.
